Any sightings of the hour-long inaugural ball concert being posted anywhere?

The Dead released some video from the ball on the website: http://www.deadnet.com/video09

Fun seeing the boys interact, deciding on what to play w/out compromising their artistry.

Wow, A post '71 quote from our Prime Minister!
I am most impressed. LOL :)
You'd have to go to '79 for the first time played,
honest to the point of recklessness...... Will Tell.

Ain't nobody messin with you but you
your friends are getting most concerned -
loose with the truth
maybe it's your fire
but baby...don't get burned.....

Hope all are having as grate a Saturday as I am.
Peace~ Wharf

Surely am!

Don't foget the glue sniffing if you want to feel like your brain was born (hatched?) in 1950 (Hook...).

reminds me of that Zappa lyric,
"I can't afford to study with anyone yet, since the bulk of my allowance goes for glue and Grateful Dead tickets..."

Oh, that's outstanding! Never heard that one...to think of the DEAD as linked to something so, so...I dunno, "reckless punk behavior" or some such is just fantastic. Jerry would no doubt admonish that you should stick to "healthy" (green? natural products?) drugs, though he clearly didn't do everything right in that department...

This is my favorite Dead reference in a Zappa song,

"If I was at the concert now, I'd be RIPPED! I could tighten my headband for an extra rush During Jerry's guitar solo"

maybe you'll try an ice cold leather headband for this year's Gourge show.

"First I'll buy some beads
And then perhaps a leather band
To go around my head
Some feathers and bells
And a book of Indian lore
I will ask the Chamber Of Commerce
How to get to Haight Street
And smoke an awful lot of dope
I will wander around barefoot
I will have a psychedelic gleam in my eye at all times
I will love everyone
I will love the police as they kick the shit out of me on the street
I will sleep . . .
I will, I will go to a house
That's, that's what I will do
I will go to a house
Where there's a rock & roll band
'Cause the groups all live together
And I will join a rock & roll band
I will be their road manager
And I will stay there with them
And I will get the crabs
But I won't care"

'Does my hair look good at the back ?' How many of us read Kafka's 'In the penal colony' while listening to this record ? I read it, but at a later date. A particularly gruesome form of capital punishment. (In the story, not the record)

I always thought that line should be "smoke a lot of awful dope." A subtle difference, but an important one...
